The inaugural F1 ROCKS™ event will take place at the 2009 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX later this year, with a star-studded music line-up headlined by global superstars the Black Eyed Peas and Beyonce. ‘F1 ROCKS™ Singapore with LG’ will span three days of the night-time race weekend, from September 24-26.

Nelson Piquet says he has been told his services are no longer required by Renault, meaning he is unlikely to race in the forthcoming European Grand Prix, regardless of whether the team win an appeal against their suspension from the event. Piquet, who began his competitive Formula One career with Renault in 2008, has endured a tough 2009 campaign, failing to score in the ten races to date, and has faced mounting speculation over his future with the team.

Kimi Raikkonen’s first outing in the World Rally Championship came to a premature end on Saturday when the Ferrari Formula One driver crashed out of the Finland Rally. Raikkonen’s car rolled into a ditch three kilometres into the day’s final stage. Raikkonen and co-driver Kaj Lindstrom were unhurt in the accident, but the Finn’s Fiat Grande Punto Abarth S2000 was too badly damaged to continue, despite being dragged back on to the road by a group of spectators…

Following approval by the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC), late on Friday night FIA President Max Mosley signed the 2009 Concorde Agreement, heralding a renewed period of stability for the FIA Formula One World Championship.

There was further proof of Felipe Massa’s strong recovery on Friday, as Ferrari revealed that the injured driver hopes to fly back to his native Brazil early next week.
