Adrian Newey in his Red Bull-Renault RB5 at Goodwood Red Bull star designer Adrian Newey has been given one of the team’s 2009 cars. He was presented with the RB5 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed today. He drove the car up the hill today and will drive it again tomorrow.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed begins today and there are over 50 F1 cars present celebrating the 60th anniversary of the first world championship season. The picture collection below show the F1 cars’ first run up the hill this morning in front of a packed crowd. McLaren have put out a video showing Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button poking around their store of old Formula 1 cars and pulling back the covers on a 1988 MP4-4. Both take turns sitting in the car which was driven by Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, winning 15 of the 16 races they started

Having pilloried the European Grand Prix stewards in the 48 hours following the race, Ferrari have begun to tone down their criticism of Sunday’s event. Fernando Alonso was first to take a step back from his earlier criticism of the race as “manipulated”, saying “we should talk about it together in a calm way, to ensure that things like this do not happen again.” Alonso said : We were particularly unlucky in terms of the timing of when the safety car appeared on track. It would have only needed a few seconds more or less to totally change our race.
It was a tale of mixed fortunes at Red Bull . While Sebastian Vettel cruised to victory, leading every lap, Mark Webber had an absolute shocker. With a poor start, a slow pit stop and a terrifying crash with Heikki Kovalainen , Webber will be glad to see the back of the European Grand Prix weekend
Mercedes suffered their worst performance in qualifying for the second race in a row. Tenth and 13th on the grid in Canada two weeks ago had been their worst to date. The promoters of the European Grand Prix at Valencia have reacted to criticism of the track’s appearance by painting parts of it green. They hope this will make it easier for television viewers to distinguish between the 25 corners on the 5.4km track. According to promoter Valmor Sports: Valencia Street Circuit this year has a new colour in its design, this colour is green to simulate the grass and to give more colour to the path.
